Heather's Castle on the Web

Saturday MAY 23

Today is DISNEY CRUISE Day!!!!! Woo Hoo!! 4 years of planning and now it was time to enjoy it!! We got all our stuff packed up (AGAIN) and we were headed out to the port. We left around 9:00 am for our wet and rainy drive to the port.

I took a few pictures of the Magic as we came over the bridge, but it was raining so I don’t know how they will come out.

As usual, getting into the port area is a breeze. They have people everywhere telling you what  you need and where to go. We showed our ID’s, went and dropped off our luggage..we needed one more luggage tag and it was NO problem, they were able to print one out for us right there. (this was for our Fish Extender Gift bags.) We waited in line for a few minutes to pay for parking and then to park. It was still raining, so we hurried up and went and got in line for the security check.

We got through security pretty quickly, and rode the escalators up to check in!! They did have us fill out a health form to see if anyone had been sick or not. We didn’t even have to wait to check in! The check in was a breeze as well. We showed our passports (and had to sign them, we forgot to do so before). We got boarding pass #8. I just showed the credit card we were putting down on the account, and then she handed us our Castaway Cay Club lanyards and map and told us to have a great cruise! (Castaway Cay Club members are anyone who has sailed on the Disney Cruise before.)

We then had to go get our picture taken for security. This also went very quickly. The adults had to show photo Id’s (we used our passports).  Then it was off to get our pictures taken with Captain Mickey!! Of course Brandon was less than thrilled, but  he told me “If I don’t get the  picture taken you’ll just get mad and yell at me, so I will just get it taken even though I don’t want to”. LOL I said “I trained you well, my son!” And he replied” You tourture me is more like it!” Hahaha…whatever, I’m just glad he got the picture taken! I did tell him he didn’t have to do EVERY picture, but in the evenings before dinner I’d like to get a few of the backdrop settings.

We found a place to sit and relax until it was time for us to board.

They started calling boarding pass #’s 2,3,4 and then we saw Sailor Goofy taking pictures. Ed and I went to get our picture taken with our favorite character while Brandon sat and watched the bags and played his PSP. (This was a  early bday gift and graduation gift from Grandma…and he hasn’t put the thing down yet! What a great way to keep him busy on the 9 hour ride down!)

Ed had on one of his Goofy shirts, and Goofy saw it and went crazy! He made Ed take off the lanyard and have someone hold it so the full shirt would show! Ha! He kept pointing to the shirt and then to himself.  Once the pictures were done, and we were walking away, Goofy noticed that the back of Ed’s shirt had goofy on it as well. So he had the guy take a picture of him pointing to the back of the shirt! (we never could find the picture though, even checked in with the CM’s. It must have been deleted. )

After a bit they called everyone to board with boarding pass # 8…and we were on the way!!  We got through security there (they ran your Key to the World card and viewed your picture on the computer). We waited in line to have our Boarding picture taken. Then we walked onto the beautiful Magic and they welcomed our family onto the ship.

Then a CM pulled us aside to tell us about the ship and where to go for lunch. He also let us know about  where to go to book Palo’s or excursions if we needed to. We had already booked everything online that we wanted to, so off to Parrot Cay we went for lunch.

They have been handing out wipes to everyone before you enter the dining areas. We were placed with a family of 4 to sit at a table for lunch. They were a very nice family from Nashville, Tenn. We enjoyed talking to them. I didn’t find too much that caught my eye for lunch, but the fish was really good. I had a fruit tart for dessert.

After lunch we tried to find a place to sit outside. At this point it had stopped raining. We found nowhere to sit , so we headed back inside to the Promanade. After a bit Ed and I headed up to see if our room was ready. They had told us the room wouldn’t be ready until 2pm, but it was ready at 1:30. We went down to get Brandon and our things and made our way to our room!

Our Castaway Cay Club gift was in the room, a tote bag with some goodies inside. Our REAS (romantic escape at sea) gift was there as well. A bottle of champainge and glasses, white chocolate glasses, and a cooler with two DCL robes in it.

Our luggage started to arrive at this time, so I started unpacking for me and Bran. Ed called his mom and I called mine to tell them we made it on the ship!

I put up all our magnets on the door. They covered almost the whole door. I have more for each port day, and also some for pirate night!

The pictures above were taken later on in the cruise. Other DisBoard members had left magnets on the door as well, to keep track of what rooms they had already delivered FE gifts to.

We noticed that there was not a fridge in the room and since I had a new thing of insulin, I need to keep it cold until I used it. Ed called and let them know and the delivered one soon after.

I had ordered a box of water to be delivered to the room, and FOUR ended up being delivered. We had to call and check on it and they came back to get the extras. We decided to buy two boxes since I drink A LOT  of water!! (turns out we used ALL the bottles...actually we had half a bottle left as we walked off the ship, we used it on the drive to Disney)

We ran into Tracy and her hubby at some point. It was nice to meet them!! I wish we had more time to visit with them.

We put on our life vests and headed down to the mandatory Life Boat Drill. It really only took a few minutes, and a lot of people got there early!

Brandons new thing this trip was sticking out his tounge in as many pictures as possible! You'll see he had great success!

We came back to the room to drop off the life vests and got ready for the Sail Away party. We were supposed to have a group meet, but we went straight to Dec 9 and got some drinks…I was SO thirsty! We had yet to meet our room hostess (still haven’t on the 2nd day) and had received NO ICE. So once we had a drink we were ready to dance and party!

I did look around the deck during the party but couldn’t see anyone. We had a great time dancing and watching the party going on. When the ship’s horn went off we were so happy! It was great finally hearing it live! To watch Ed's reaction was great as well....you could just see how much he was enjoying it all!! We enjoyed seeing the characters out there as well.

Here are some pictures from the Adventures Away Party:

Don't know why I'm  posting this horrible picture of me...but I did have fun dancing along with everyone:

After the party was over, we went to the side of the ship to watch us go out to sea. Did anyone see us on the www.twopalms.cam??? We were waving! LOL

Brandon went back to the room, and Ed and I hung out on the deck for a little bit.

We then headed to the room to get ready for dinner. Our dinner tonight was in Animators Pallet. Tonight was the night for the show. We met our serving team. Then we met our dinner table mates. The way we were sitting it was hard to have any communication with them. I did smile and say  hello, but that was about it. They had two small kids. They used to sit you with kids that are around the same age.

I am trying to take lots of pictures of the food so we can remember what we ate. Tonight we all ate Steak! Yummy! The guys had steak fries, and I had a baked potato and steamed veggies.

For dessert I had the strawberry shortcake..so good.

Brandon had a mickey bar

and Ed had the double chocolate cake.

The light/picture show was great.

We enjoyed when Sorcerer Mickey came out for the show.

After dinner Brandon headed back to the room, and Ed and I looked at our pictures in Shutters. We picked out a package and a couple of pictures. We came back to the room to get Brandon and realized we did not hang up our Fish Extender yet. We had already been given a gift and that reminded us. We had to break the poles down some, and we couldn’t find the sting, but Ed fixed it up with zip ties!!

Here is our towel animal for the night:

We then headed to the show for the evening. The Welcome Aboard show. We enjoyed it, and can’t wait to see John Charles and the other comedian’s shows during the week. The boat had been rockin’ and rollin’ and I almost left the show a few times. I did make it back to the room after the show and once I was laying down I felt a bit better.

Ed took Brandon to find the stack where the teens hang out. It was time to pick out what they wanted to do for  the week. Brandon finally came back around 1am. It was a bit nerve wracking for me having him be gone so long, but I was so tired I just fell asleep. He did wake me up when he got back. He was so hyped up! He had a GREAT time.

Our first day on the cruise was a VERY busy day!

Next up is our first Day at Sea!!

Welcome
