Disney Cruise Day 5 ~ 5/27/09

St. Thomas

Today was an early day for us. Luckily, there is no more immigration so we didn’t have to get up at 6am. We did put in a order for room service anytime between 7and 7:30am. They actually called a few minutes before 7am to let us know they were on the way. Ed had been outside taking pictures of us docking in St. Thomas. We ate breakfast and had a little bit of time before we needed to leave. We just looked out from our verandah at all the sail boats and luxury boats in St. Thomas. We were the only cruise in port today!

We met in the Promonade lounge again, this time at 8:15am. They gave out our stickers, so we would know who to follow. After some confusion about the buses, we were finally on our way.

A Look back at our ship as we were driving away:

The Shopping area as we were riding the buses out of the Port area:

It was about a 15 – 20 minute drive to Coral World. We met our guide who split us up into 2 groups. The Sharks and the Barracudas. We were in the Barracuda group, so we got to look around Coral World first while the other group went on the boat.

Coral World is a pretty small place. We saw a couple of smaller sharks,

some stingrays

The sting rays seemed to like to rub up against the walls and flap around:

We walked on a nature path and saw some ducks and turtles.

We found an area that was air conditioned and we just sat in there for a bit.

We walked around more and saw some big sea turtles.

Then we got some GREAT pictures (hopefully) of the wonderful views!

The water was amazing, and seeing other Islands around was pretty neat!! Bluebeards Island was right across the way. They say the people still go out on weekends to try to find all the treasure that he buried. Mostly things found are plates, cups, nothing like Gold or Jewels.

There also were Iguanas running around all over the place!! Some were little, but some were HUGE!! Brandon liked seeing them!

Coral World Semi-Sub

After a bit it was our time for the boat ride. The walk over had some great views!!

We were going on a Semi-Sub. The boat looked like a regular boat, but it was a sub on the bottom.

Brandon loved this cute little Bull Dog (he wants one now):

We sat on these little seats and faced windows looking out to the bottom of the ocean.

We had a great tour guide, very laid back and full of info!

There was a guy who went out in scuba gear when we were out quite a ways, and he put out food (actually as cat food) and all the fish came around to eat right near the windows!! Pretty cool!

He also showed us a few things. We saw a sea turtle as well.

After all this, they handed out candy to everyone, and this was great since my blood sugar was getting low. We got back on our bus and headed back to the port.

We had some great views (especially of the Magic) on the way back:

After a bit, our driver pulled over and stopped. Turns out a few people got left behind!! It was the tour groups fault, so the bus driver told them they had to pay for the people to take a cab back.

St. Thomas Part II

Ed, Brandon and I got back on the ship to eat lunch (FREE).

After we cooled off and rested a bit, Ed and I headed back out to walk to Paradise Point. Brandon decided to stay on the ship and hang out with the other teens.

We walked to Paradise Point ourselves, it only took us about 5 to 10 minutes to get there. (Thanks to research I had done, I knew it wasn't a very far walk and that we could go on our own!!)

We paid for our tickets (wow..didn’t expect them to be $21 each). We rode the “sky ride” up to the top of the hill/mountain.

View from the ride up:

Here's a picture of the cable car we rode on:

Now...this picture coming up in the "Money Shot" to me. Ever since I had been researching Disney Cruises, I've wanted to go on the Eastern cruise to get this shot, to be in this spot and SEE  this wonderful view! This was IT for me...made my trip!!! The BEST part....We were the only ship in port that day! Ahhhhh.....

We had to have our picture taken here:

We ran into Churchlady (Leigh) and family. We noticed they had drinks, and we were SOOO thirsty…they pointed us in the direction to the bar. We each got a Frozen Strawberry Margarita. This was the BEST margarita we ever had!!! It was just what we needed! I promise you, no other Margarita I've had could top this one!!!!!

So it isn't in a pretty cup...but that doesn't matter:

The views from here are absolutely amazing!!!!!! I have seen so many pictures from here and always wanted to BE there. And today I finally was!! We took quite a few pictures.  So, here are quite a few pictures...I just couldn't pick one or two to post:

and someone offered to take our picture together with the Magic in the background

And just incase you missed the first one...here is another great view of the Magic!! (so I took about 10 of these...at least I didn't post them all..haha)

We looked around a bit in the shops, but couldn’t find anything we wanted to buy. So we took the sky ride back down.

We walked back to the tour area, and it just kept getting hotter and hotter. I was feeling horrible. We found a place to get water, and then tried to do some shopping. We couldn’t find Del Sol, and I still wasn’t feeling great and we headed back to the ship. We saw our Server Toto heading out.

We we got in our room, we took some pictures of the Paradise Point Cable Cars we rode up and down in:

Ok, see the white poles going up the mountain...that is what we went up...

Um..yep mom, I DID go in thos little cable cars you see, going waaaaay up this mountain. Hey, I HAD to see the view I"ve been waiting to see for years!! (I know, I won't go on the sky ride at Busch Gardens, but I rode this...go figure)

We came back upstairs to take our showers and get ready for dinner.

Ed got some shots of us pulling out of port:

We were in Parrot Cay tonight, so we dressed in Khaki pants and our Hawaiian shirts. We got some good professional pictures, and we are using one for our Christmas Cards. (I'll post all the professional photos on one page soon)

Dinner was great. (I can't remember all that we ate for dinner, so I'm going to try to figure it out by the pictures)

Our bread tonight was bannana bread, it was great...Ed LOVED it!

Brandon had his usual Pineapple, I had Crab Martinequ (have to check spelling..lol)

Ed had Shrimp:

I had steak and asked for green beans as well:

Ed had steak as well, with veggies and steak fries.

Brandon got to try another cut of steak tonight...

And, just incase he didn't like it, Toto brought out a NY Strip for him!!! And it's safe to say...he ate BOTH!

For dessert I had the sugar free cheesecake:

I forget the name of what Ed had:

And of course, Brandon had a Mickey Bar:

We rested in the room for a bit, then headed to the show of the evening; A hypnotist show. It was pretty good. I’m still a skeptic about those shows, but I’ve seen a couple of the guests around the ship, so maybe it was real. I can tell you it was funny!!!

We skipped the adult show tonight and just rested in the room.

Towel Animal for tonight:

We had a busy day today for sure! Brandon came in pretty late from the Stack. Ed and I were both asleep. We put out our request for our REAS breakfast. We got hot items from room service!

Up next: Sea Day

Welcome
